Best Hiking Trails in Palos Verdes
July 15, 2016 6:49 pmOne of the best things about living in Southern California is that the weather is usually great all year long for doing fun outdoor activities such as hiking. In this blog, the Levine Homes Real Estate Team explores some of the best hiking trails in our backyard: Palos Verdes.
Ocean Trails
Ocean Trails is accessible from Trump Golf Course, which is owned by Donald Trump. The hike itself is of moderate difficulty and can take up to three hours to complete the 4.4 mile trek. It has access to stellar scenic views of the ocean, a dog beach, and some amazing cliff-side trails. Time it to reach the beach at low tide, and you will have access to beautiful tide pools. From January through April, take binoculars to watch migrating birds and watch for whales.
Portuguese Bend
Portuguese Bend is accessible at the end of Crenshaw Boulevard. The trail can be as long as six miles depending on how you navigate the reserve and if you go all the way to Sacred Cove. It is of easy to moderate difficulty, becoming a little more difficult toward the end. It contains ocean views the whole way through and plenty of tide pools for exploring at low tide. Accounting for exploration of these tide pools, the hike can take around 2.5 hours. It is accessible all year long.
Malaga Cove
Malaga Cove is another trail that features stunning beach access and lovely views of Malaga Cove itself. The trail goes for a total of four miles, lasting for approximately two hours. It is of moderately easy difficulty, making it great for families, dogs, and joggers. The trail winds up through wooded areas to scenic overlooks and descends down right to the beach.
