Palos Verdes Communities

Palos Verdes is located approximately 23 miles southwest of downtown Los Angeles. Four primary communities make up the Palos Verdes municipality:

  • Palos Verdes Estates – A celebrated community located on the north side of the peninsula. Distinguished by numerous great schools.
  • Rancho Palos Verdes – A lovely city on top of the hills near the coast. The Trump National Golf Club is located here.
  • Rolling Hills – A gated community with private roads. Every home maintains equestrian property.
  • Rolling Hills Estates – Another private gated community associated with a relatively high median income. This location is especially beloved of horse riding enthusiasts. No streetlights are found in this community, though numerous riding trails are.

The school systems serving these communities are among the best in the country. Private institutions as well as the renowned Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District serve the education needs of residents throughout Palos Verdes.

Location and Climate

The Palos Verdes Peninsula has been celebrated for its beauty for generations. The long stretches of coast line contribute to a very unique climate, technically described as cold semi-arid; you can find it labeled BSk on weather maps. Summer weather is characteristically hot and dry while the winter can be surprisingly cool. The coldest months might even see occasional snowfall.

There are numerous popular attractions found throughout the peninsula. Visitors and residents alike enjoy extensive horseback riding trails, sandy public beaches, the Wayfarer’s Chapel, ancient redwood groves, and world-class surfing.
